1. PURPOSE OF JOB
To conduct MOT inspections, issue MOT documentation, ensure security of the MOT certification process and implement the MOT scheme in compliance with ministry and company requirements
2. MAIN JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
To conduct Class IV vehicle inspections in accordance with the vehicle inspectorates laid down procedures
To complete all documentation in relation to conducting Class IV – Vehicle Inspectors and produce returns as required by the Inspectorate
Support the Service Manager and Workshop Control in all aspects of vehicle inspectorate testing authority
Identify worn and faulty components needs in accordance with the Company Standards and personal competencies
Inform workshop control and service advisors of the required and advisory work and reasons
Remove and refit components and carry out tyre related adjustments in accordance with the technical standards and work instructions.
Maintain supplies of Ministry documentation
Ensure calibration and maintenance programmes are completed as per Ministry requirements and company schedules
Routinely inspect tools and equipment and assess serviceability to undertake MOT tests
Repair tyres in accordance with technical standards and work instructions
Ensure all brake work is conducted in accordance to manufacturers schedules and procedures
Contribute to Good housekeeping within the work shop
Place goods and materials into storage and participate in stock takes as directed
Understand and adhere to Company policies and procedures
To comply with all the Quality Standards agreed within the Company and to have personal responsibilities for the application of the Dealership Policy and Procedures.
3. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Full Apprenticeship completed.
Ministry approved and authorized MOT tester
Technical qualifications (BTEC. City and Guilds, National Craftsman)
Proven skill record.
Previous training record covering all relevant areas.
High level of understanding of automotive electrical systems.
