When it comes to buying a used car, there’s no need to skimp on safety, not if you choose a Volvo V40. Last year, Co-op Insurance launched its Safe Used Car Award in partnership with Thatcham Research, the motor insurance industry’s safety and repair research centre, and Volvo V40 safety was recognised as the best. This year, used Volvo V40 safety has again come out tops.
These Volvo V40 awards were both won by a used V40 with the Driver Support Pack, meaning it benefits from pedestrian and cyclist detection systems, adaptive cruise control to maintain a safe distance from the car in front, a lane departure warning function and a warning system that detects vehicles in your blind spot. However, such is the safety performance of the V40 that even without the additional safety systems in the Driver Support Pack, it still ranked in the top 10 used cars for safety, mainly thanks to the fitment of autonomous emergency braking as standard. The V40 is also a star of the Euro NCAP safety tests, having become the only car ever to achieve 100% for its safety assist systems, when it was tested in 2012.
To be eligible for the award, the Volvo V40 had to meet the criteria of being a used family car costing £15,000 or less, having a Euro NCAP five star safety rating, and to have a maximum of 120g/km of CO2 emissions.
We currently have a great range of used Volvo V40 models available at our Volvo Cars London dealerships, so please get in touch to give this award-winningly safe car a try for yourself.
