Thanks to autonomous emergency braking (AEB), Volvo have come out on top in Euro NCAP’s pedestrian safety tests with the new Volvo S90 and Volvo V90. Volvo’s unique City Safety system can identify other vehicles as well as cyclists and vulnerable pedestrians in the road ahead and apply the brakes to avoid or mitigate a collision, if you, as the driver, fail to do so, and it’s hoped AEB systems will save 1,100 lives and prevent 122,860 casualties over the next 10 years. Here at Volvo Cars London we can demonstrate the AEB City Safety system to you during a test drive, so you can experience for yourself this amazing technology – simply send an enquiry to one of our dealerships.
In fact, the V90 and S90 join the XC90 to make Euro NCAP’s top performing cars ever, and Volvo is the first car manufacturer to score both the top six points for pedestrian safety and an overall 5 star rating. Euro NCAP pedestrian tests comprise an adult running out in front of you from the driver’s side and, on the passenger side, an adult walking into the road and a child running into the road between parked cars – all nightmare scenarios, in which the Volvo city safe system is designed to work for you. Volvo’s continuing investment in safety technology is all aimed at achieving its vision that no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo by 2020.
