Adding to the total of Volvo XC40 awards and Volvo XC60 awards comes yet another big win for Volvo at the Auto Express Awards 2018. Already, the Volvo XC60 has driven off with the World Car of the Year title, whilst the Volvo XC40 holds both the UK and European Car of the Year titles. What impresses the judges is also what makes the XC40 so desirable to drivers. On the outside, the XC40 is well-proportioned and shows striking style. Internally, there’s practicality and comfort in abundance, as well as the premium feel of the high-quality materials that have been used throughout. Up-to-the-minute technology abounds with Volvo’s semi-autonomous Pilot Assist system and a wealth of high-quality infotainment and connectivity systems, all accessed through the Sensus 9” touchscreen and also with the benefit of voice activation.

And it was all thanks to the T8 Twin Engine, giving a combined petrol/electric power output of 390hp and torque of 640Nm. Exemplary performance means 0-62mph in only 5.5 seconds and a CO2 emissions figure of only 52g/km, as well as fuel economy of 122.8mpg. In addition, the judges were impressed by the styling inside and out, spacious interior and cutting-edge technology.
